Dirt Cheap Entry Level DSLR – Canon XSi Or Nikon D3000?
Canon and Nikon has been going head to head in competition for the less expensive (OK – cheap) since the release of the first DSLR Canon Digital Rebel 300D and Nikon D40. These two cameras with 6 megapixel DSLR entered the market at just under $ 1000.The tendency to release less expensive DSLR continued with later versions from both Canon and Nikon. Now we have two DSLR with impressive credentials for less than $ 600.Which choose? The Canon Rebel XSi or Nikon D3000? I have bad news for you. There is no definitive winner in this comparison.
But let's consider the differences. Will then need to decide what role technology tip the balance for you. Image quality – E 'a draw. Both cameras produce high-quality prints, considered the best in category entry level DSLR. Megapixel – Canon is the clear winner here with 12.2 megapixel vs 10.2 megapixels. Kit Lens – Identical. ISO – Slight advantage to Nikon here with ISO 100-3200 vs. 100-1600. Price – Nikon has shaved their MSRP of $ 600 with kit lens. And even if you can get both with the camera for $ 600 the actual price, Nikon is always available for about $ 50 less than the Rebel.
Continuous shooting – Canon is the clear winner here with 3.5 frames per second (up to 53 continuous shots). Nikon is the speed of 2.99 frames per second (up to 16 shots). LCD Monitors – Identical. Both have 3 "display panel with 230,000-dot resolution LCD Live View – clear winner. HA Canon Rebel XSi Live View, while Nikon D3000 is not. Video – no video capabilities. Age – The Canon Rebel XSi entered the market in April '08, and Nikon D3000 entered more recently, in August '09. These are the comparisons that might be of interest to someone moving up to their first DSLR.
The most important may be the availability of Live View on Canon XSi. This function is always available on all new releases. Why leave Nikon Live View off the D3000?
