Camera Reviews – Nikon D90 DX 12.3 MP Digital SLR Camera
As the first digital SLR in its line of support films capture the Nikon D90 DX 12.3MP Digital SLR offers some significant improvements over its predecessor. Since this update has taken almost two years is not surprising that less and offer much higher priced DSLR a good run for their money. The camera is available in two versions both with the body alone or with a kit with 18-105mm F3.5-5.6 lens.Weighing in at 1 pound 10 ounces, the body of the Nikon D90 DX is considerably heavier than other cameras of this class, but also feels sturdier and more substantial.
Despite this the camera is still about the same size as the D80, with the same battery and vertical grip. Keeping the same wireless flash controls and high-speed flash sync features of its predecessor, it improves the length and incorporates the same shutter system to prevent dust like the D300. Although it has the same LCD as that camera is laminated with a polymer instead of glass for better durability. The DX Nikon D90 is very comfortable to hold with the control layout and navigation easy to use and intuitive, especially if you 've used Nikon DSLR before.
To the right of the LCD you will find the dedicated Live View button, four way navigation switch plus OK button, a switch to lock the navigation from moving the selected AF point, and a button context-sensitive information. Many customizations can be easily adjusted, but there are some common options, such as choice of AF mode settings are buried in the custom video mode menu. While Nikon D90 DX is new, the application needs some retouching. With 24 fps Motion JPEG 1280×720 pixels and support for VR optical image-stabilization, the camera has some limitations that compromise the experience of recovery.
This includes exposure, which is fixed for the duration of the clip, monaural sound, manual focus while shooting, and HD clips limited to 5 minutes. The DX Nikon D90 adds face detection to its Live View repertoire, with a maximum of five times. There are also added to the shooting controls, including an extension of Active D-Lighting parameters, nine slots for custom Picture Control settings that can be loaded on the program Capture NX 2 first-processing, and enhanced modes, including Picture Controls and Active D – Lighting (which can be programmed automatically switch to low speed shutter when it detects that a VR lens is used).
In terms of performance, the Nikon D90 DX clearly improves on the D80's. Nikon has added a 11-point AF mode 3D tracking voicing exceptionally sensitive camera in its class. For all but continuous shooting is about as fast as the D300, and overall one of the fastest around. With a power and firing time of 0.2 seconds and a late shot at 0.4 seconds, the camera is fast and responsive. Mode 11-point AF 3D-tracking works well but can not handle the unpredictable movement very well. However, when the movement in general is concerned, is in place.
